August 2021 Concert for the Planet

Local Maine poets and essayists will read from their pieces in the new book, “A Dangerous New World, Maine Voices on the Climate Crisis.”   Leonore and Brian, Downeast songwriters and musicians will perform original pieces – all in celebration of what we love…and what we don’t want to lose in this rocky place beside the sea. Gouldsboro Town Park (in Prospect Harbor).

February 2021 Pulling a James Baldwin

 

 

 

“Pulling a James Baldwin” featured an open call for proposals from artists, writers, and performers to select and perform their favorite James Baldwin excerpt. You can view the recording from February 26th below featuring Maya Williams, Leonore Hildebrandt, Allegra Fletcher, AhDream Smith, Jefferson Navicky, and Sion Dayson followed by a conversation with Spitting Fire Curatorial Fellow Valeria Missalina Bembry.

January 2021 Littorally ALIVE! What Would You Read? Inauguration Poems

 

Littoral Books has invited some of Maine’s best-loved poets to read their own (or someone else’s) poem that they think honors 2021’s inaugural event. Witness history in the making the night before the Inauguration. Leonore will read her poem "I Cannot Live Without You."

Featuring poets from Enough! Poems of Resistance and Protest, published by Littoral Press. Kathleen Ellis hosts a reading by Leonore Hildebrandt, Annaliese Jakimides, Steve Luttrell, and Lisa Panepinto as part of celebration of Poets for Human Rights at UMaine Honors College.

September 2020 Music in the Fields

Brian and Leonore play original songs at Kathleen Sullivan's with Michael the Farmer sitting in with them. Due to the corona virus, they kept performances small and outdoors this summer.

Eight women poets from eastern and midcoast Maine will read from their work
published in Balancing Act 2 at the Carver Library:  Linda Buckmaster (Belfast), Shirley
Glubka (Prospect), Leonore Hildebrandt (Harrington), Judy Kaber (Belfast), Valerie
Lawson (Robbinston), Leslie Moore (Belfast), Anne Britting Oleson (Dixmont), and
Pat Ranzoni (Bucksport). The event is free and open to the public.

July 2019 Garden Workshop and Tour

 

In this workshop we will discuss ways to maximize our efforts in growing food, and then tour Leonore’s beautiful vegetable garden in Harrington, Maine. It's part of the Incredible Edible Milbridge program, which fosters public vegetable gardens and education initiatives designed to create a community that is stronger, healthier, and more food independent.

June 2019 Award Ceremony for Writers

The winner of the Maine Poets Society prize poem contest will be announced as part of the Maine Writers and Publishers Alliance (MWPA) awards ceremony at the Bangor Public Library, Maine.  Leonore is one of three finalists.

March 2019 Musical Performance in Silver City, NM

Paul Hotvedt and Leonore Hildebrandt will play at the Tranquilbuzz Coffee House, Silver City, 12 to 2 pm. Originals, covers, fiddle tunes, and German folk.

December 2018 Poetry Reading at the University of Maine

Featuring Leonore Hildebrandt, Joanna Crouse, and Kathleen Ellis, this event will showcase some of the creative writing faculty's work in this fall's New Writing Series. On the Orono campus, at Stewart Commons 104.

October 2018 Poetry and Music in Steuben, ME

 

Brian Dyer Stewart  and Leonore will return to the Moore Library and Community Center in Steuben with a program of poetry and music. Leonore will read from her latest book, Where You Happen to Be, with some of the poems set to music, and the two of them will perform new songs.

 

October 2018 Reading in Belfast, ME

Along with other authors from the Three Nations Anthology, Leonore will read her work at the Waterfall Arts Gallery, 256 High Street, Belfast, ME. (This is the night before the Belfast Poetry Festival.)
 

October 2018 Poetry Workshop at Haystack

On October 5 through 8, Leonore will teach a poetry workshop titled "Playing with Words and Ideas" at the Haystack Mountain School Of Crafts in Deer Isle, ME.

Open Door, first offered at Haystack in 1982, has become an important event for the school and the Maine arts community. This intensive fall session for Maine residents allows the chance to retreat and devote extended time to one’s work. All levels of students take part.
